Savings keep flowing with more waterwise offers in the Mid West

• Exmouth, Jurien Bay, Guilderton, Sovereign Hill and Nilgen eligible for free Showerhead Swap and/or Plumbing Service
• All Mid West scheme water customers also eligible for Dual Flush Toilet Rebate
• Water Corporation’s Waterwise Towns Program to reach record 56 regional towns 
• Supports regional households to save precious water and reduce bills
• Program focuses on towns reliant on independent surface and groundwater sources

Waterwise offers are now available to eligible residents of five Mid West towns, helping save precious drinking water in the lead up to another hot, dry summer. 

Water Corporation’s Waterwise Towns Program has this year expanded to a record 56 regional communities where independent surface and groundwater sources are most at risk of the impacts of climate change.  
 
Water Minister Simone McGurk announced the tailored water efficiency measures today, as part of National Water Week, which runs until 27 October.

In 2023-24, participating Mid West communities saved around 15 million litres through waterwise irrigation upgrades in Exmouth at the District High School and two Shire parks, while a number of households in Cue and Exmouth received free plumbing or irrigation services.

This year, Water Corporation customers in each eligible Mid West community can exchange two old, inefficient showerheads for waterwise alternatives under a free Showerhead Swap Program.

In addition, eligible customers in Guilderton, Sovereign Hill and Nilgen can apply for a free plumbing service to make their home more water efficient, while Water Corporation team members will be engaging with customers in Exmouth to assist with early leak detection.  

For the first time, all Water Corporation scheme water customers in the Mid West - including those in communities not participating in the Waterwise Towns Program - will also be eligible for a rebate to replace a single flush toilet with a minimum WELS 4-star-rated dual flush system. 
 
This offer, available from mid-November, is in response to heightened demand on water supplies following an extended hot, dry summer earlier this year.

Since 2013, the Waterwise Towns Program has saved 1.9 billion litres of drinking water State-wide, contributing to the long-term sustainability of Western Australia’s most vital resource.

Plumbing Services are limited, with registrations open until 1 May 2025, unless allocations are exhausted earlier. Showerhead Swap is available until 31 May 2025, while stocks last.
